Ah, St. Nicholas is back at it again.
The magical man, Santa Claus. A construction of 20th century commercialization, bringing Christmas cheer to children everywhere. His reindeer and sleigh flying over dear Frosty each year on the nigh of Christmas Eve.
We anually lift up an offering to Mr. Claus, baking him cookies, leaving him a glass of milk. We join together year after year to celebrate this joyous day that Father Christmas comes within each and every one of our homes! In return for our efforts, for our sacrifices, we are gifted, year, after year, after year. We’ve all stayed up late, in hopes that we will catch a glimpse of the jolly old man. Though we never see Him, we never hear Him, He is there, and we must express faith. Explain the gifts under the tree, from where else could they arrive? They’ve manifested from the Christmas Man himself, and He has left us blessed on this joyous day!
This tender, childlike faith leaves us with a vast amount of room for imaginative Christmas Magic! The holiday season transforms into a time of wonder and awe, filled with question, and disbelief. What were the gifts in your parents’ closet for? If Santa Savior really cared for us, why doesn’t he come and celebrate this euphoric holiday with us all? Why does he stay in darkness? This being in which you have believed your entire life, is he truly real? We must assume so, and believe.
The philosophy of being a good child, in order for Father Christmas to treat you well with masturbatory amounts of presents nicely wrapped, does it not feel obsolete yet? Outdated? Irrelevant to your life? Nevertheless, you must believe. After all, what if it is true? All you’ll receive this year will be a sock filled with coal, and that would be quite a loss in this life, now wouldn’t it? Christmas mythology is far too similar to the religious world in which it exists.
So finally, I ask.
Do you believe your dear Lord Santa Christ will save you from yourself?
Do you believe?
A Euphoric holiday to you all.
